Job Position Summary

The main responsibility of the Category Management Specialist is to provide support to the team by delivering cost models, reports, market,

spend and supplier analyses for effective decision making. While the Category Management Specialist will report to the Manager, Strategic

Sourcing, developing their sourcing and project management skills, they will also work closely with Category Managers building their

category knowledge across several categories and assist in delivering on the category strategies and plans.

 

At times, the Category Management Specialist will also represent the company in front of various suppliers, as directed from time to time.


Key Roles and Responsibilities

· Participate in establishing the category strategies and support the category manager in delivering on the category strategies and

plans. Categories included in the scope – Lube oils, Spares, R&M, Stores.

· To provide reports and statistics on supplier and category level to support the category manager and other internal stakeholders in

decision making.

· To assist in performing supplier market analysis and organizing market intelligence for spend within Fleet’s operations and

benchmarking the comparisons.

· To assist in developing effective bidding, negotiation, and pricing strategies to provide the business with the best value in the

marketplace for the dollars spent in a manner that meets the budgets, policies, ethical standards and audit requirements of the

Group.

· To maintain and contribute to procurement policies and guidelines and ensure compliance of procurement processes and policies for

all FML procurement activities.

· Develop a supplier management program with key category suppliers including metrics, performance goals and improvement

initiatives

· Collaborate and cooperate with cross-functional category teams with the aim of driving cost reduction, improve quality and delivery

performance and other applicable key performance areas.

 

The Category Management Specialist will report to Manager, Strategic Sourcing and work closely with Category Managers and will

coordinate with User Departments and other colleagues in the Procurement Department.

 

The position also involves representing the Company in front of various suppliers (both approved and potential).

 

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications

· Master's degree and at least five (5) years procurement/category management experience.

· Excellent communication and negotiation skills

· Resourceful, self-driven and proactive

· Proficient in use of MS Office Application and understanding of supply chain procedures.

· Strong analytical skills with ability to work on procurement requirements, budgets, cost analysis, cost control and cost savings

aspects

· Ability to understand and adapt technical requirements into procurement processes and related streamlinin
