Job Position Summary
Implementing the organizations compliance programme with cross-functional teams to mitigate sanctions risks and documentary compliance with the company’s ship management operations.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
• Performing sanctions compliance check for vessels calling sanctioned countries, including due diligence functions to screen the cargo and counter-parties to confirm no red-flags.
• Seek external lawyer’s advice to confirm no breach of sanctions, notify ship-owners and higher management for corrective action.
• Screening and due diligence function prior to company contracting with individuals and companies. And thereafter, periodic, and regular screening on individuals and entities as required.
• Retaining documentary records of all findings, including mandatory record-keeping as required.
• Monitor changes to the Sanctions regimes and advise the compliance manager and follow up on the corrective appropriate actions.
• Settlement of invoices for all invoices related to compliance function.
• Monitor port situations, trading conditions. War Risk areas and answer operational queries there-off internal, of ship-owners and of ships.
• Follow up and close-out of Condition Surveys, including P&I condition survey for all vessels.
• Arranging precautionary surveys for vessels where necessary/requires.
• Ensure compliance with new takeover reporting requirements.
• Review/filing of certificates related to vessel insurances, including entry of Co-assureds on the insurance certificates and follow up with tech groups/Owners on the correction of information.
• Reporting of Trading limits breach, US voyage declaration, Declaration on carriage of persistent/non-persistent cargo, COFR declaration.
• Responsible for review of Managers Undertaking and Ship-management agreement clauses under the supervision of compliance manager.
• Undertaking any other duties as may be requested by the department Head.
Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications
• Law or Shipping Degree from a recognized Institute or University;
• Preferred 2 years’ experience in marine insurance
• Good understanding of marine insurance and practice;
• Competent language skills in English and Chinese (verbal and written), Mandarin will be an advantage;
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
