Job Position Summary

The Service Delivery Lead, Tankers role exists in order to ensure the continuous success of the tanker vessels fleet management business by setting growth strategies, performance standards and creating competitive advantage, adhering to FML business strategy and budget.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

"Set and develop strategy for growth of the Tankers fleet management business in India”

•  Accountable for the long-term and short-term growth strategy for the Tankers fleet management business in India

•  Develop a growth strategy for the Tankers fleet management business in alignment to FML’s overall business strategy, capitalizing on industry trends and projection of customer needs, and drive its implementation through Head, Chemical/Head, Oil & Gas

•  Drive the selection of appropriate financial targets to track and measure the success of growth strategies through Head, Chemical/Head, Oil & Gas

 

Drive adherence to Group vessel performance standards for FML Tankers Fleet in India

•  Accountable for the adherence to Group vessel performance standards for FML Tankers in India

• Derive high level insights from knowledge of industry other professional, regulatory or legislative  elements of country to contextualise Group vessel performance standards within the country

•  Derive high level insights from vessel audit reports to inform amendments to vessel performance standards within India, if necessary

 

Adapt Group technological and human competencies improvement roadmap Tankers

•  Accountable for generating a competitive advantage for FML's Tankers business in India through superior technological and human competencies

• Derive high level insights from knowledge of industry of country and current state of technological and human competency  to contextualise  Group improvement roadmap  within the country

•  Collaborate with HR and Ancillary Services lead to develop improvement roadmap for Tankers  technological and human competencies and drive its implementation through Head, Chemical/Head, Oil & Gas in India

 

Maintain safety and reliability standards onboard Tankers

• Accountable for maintaining high levels of safety and reliability aboard Tankers Vessels

• Derive high level insights from findings of technical inspections and audits implemented by Head, Chemical/Head, Oil & Gas to inform corrective action plans for the improvement of vessel operation governance in India

• Oversee policies, programmes and communication efforts developed by Head, Chemical/Head, Oil & Gas to create a safety-oriented culture onboard Tankers Vessels in adherence to FML safety standards, providing direction to address inadequacies if needed

 

Drive continuous improvement within the department

• Responsible for implementing and driving continuous improvement initiatives through managers and employees  within the department

• Collaborate with Head, Crewing Services India and employees within the department to identify improvements that can be made to policies, processes or technological infrastructure.

• Drive the operationalisation and implementation of improvement initiatives within the department through managers and employees

• Monitor adherence to timeline and budget for continuous improvement projects and technological implementations within the department and report progress to  Head, Crewing Services India

• Monitor and report improvement in outcomes within the department to  Head, Crewing Services India

 

Oversee day-to-day operations

• Accountable for the adherence of all Tankers vessels to established minimum operating standards

• Oversee the standardisation of onboard technical management across all Tankers vessels, providing direction in resolving inefficiencies and promoting best practices when needed.

• Act as the final point of escalation to provide support and advice to Head, Chemical/Head, Oil & Gas in the event of any crisis/incident and ensures that appropriate assistance is provided for quick resolution

Manage and review costs

• Responsible for adherence of all Tankers repair and maintenance cost to budget

• Accountable for the review, approval, and projection of repair and maintenance budgets presented by Head, Chemical/Head, Oil & Gas, and for the aggregation and presentation of final budget to Head, Crewing Services India

• Assist Head, Crewing Services India in the identification, escalation and resolution of areas of anomaly in budget reports for the department

 

Develop human capital

• Develop capabilities of direct reports through formal or informal mentorship and implementation of development plans

• Drive the identification and addressing of gaps in competencies through performance review of direct reports and collaboration with HR

• Review and comment on workforce plan developed by  HR to ensure adequate manpower for critical positions.

 

"Relationship (mostly Internal and or External) and Nature of Communication.

• Primarily maintains relationships with leadership team, other departments, direct reports and vessel crew, as well as key external stakeholders such as customers and regulatory bodies in India

• Collaborates with leadership team, other departments, direct reports and vessel crew to  maintain and improve operational standards of Tankers vessels,  and with key external stakeholders to ensure compliant and steady growth of fleet management business

• Resolves day-to-day conflicts between other departments, direct reports and vessel crew to align efforts in achieving objectives and conflicts between FML and key external stakeholders to protect professional relationships and FML interests"

 

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential:

10 years supervising and leading Crewing Operation teams – demonstrating ability to drive forward improvements through helping team members achieve their potential

•Proven success in a senior fleet management position in a global organisation

• Experience driving business expansion and revenue growth across regions or at a global level

• In-depth understanding of operational and safety processes and standards  in a ship management company and the ship management industry

• Strong understanding of business strategy within the ship management industry

• Hold MEO Class 1 Certificate of competency or Certificate of Competency II/2 (for Master) or Certificate of Competency III/2 (for Chief Engineer) under STCW Code"
