Job Position Summary
He will provide support to the vessels assigned to him for monitoring the electrical equipment of the vessels for Safe and Efficient operation.
Monitor all maintenance reports for electrical equipment from vessels. Verify with vessel of any abnormalities noted and report to Technical Manager,
Senior and Technical Superintendent for further action.


Roles and Responsibilities

 

Technical Management / Operations
•Accountable for vessel inspection and ensure the electrical/ electronic equipment and maintenance standards adhere to organisation procedures
•Ensure all maintenance is performed to a high standard and as per manufacturer’s recommendations. Review & improve on ship’s specific maintenance /testing plan with consultation technical department.
•Prepare specifications and evaluate tenders for electrical/ electronic related jobs.
•To carry out periodic inspections on board vessels to verify on maintenance plan & assess conditions of electrical/ electronic & alarm system
•To conduct on board familiarization and training for all Electricians onboard. Also, to conduct performance assessments for Electrical officer & report to technical department further action.
•Plan & monitor repair of electrical/ electronic equipment ashore and update TM, Senior/Technical Superintendent on progress.
•Assist TM, Senior/Technical Superintendent to trouble shoot electrical/ electronic problems on board and Investigate causes of failure of electrical equipment onboard & report to TM or Senior /Technical Superintendent with proposal for preventive/corrective measures.
•Scrutinize all invoices relating to electrical repairs & present to TM or Senior/Technical Superintendent for verification. Clarify with relevant parties on any discrepancies and report to TM or Senior/Technical Superintendent for further action.
•Assist TM or Senior/Technical Superintendent to monitor & control repair costs & budget relating to electrical system onboard.

Regulatory/Legislative Statutory Compliance
•100% compliance with International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Flag State and Port State rules and regulations

Financial Management
•Advise the TM or Senior/Technical Superintendent on the costs related to electrical spares and repairs and suggest economical solutions

Quality & Continuous Improvement
•Recommend improvement in processes to enhance productivity and efficiency in the system
•Establish performance standards for the electrical/ electronic equipment
•Demonstrates a complete understanding of the Safety & QMS policies & procedures and ensures that the on-shore and off-shore employees operate at the same level of understanding and awareness
Health, Safety and Environment Compliance
•Responsible for creating and sustaining a positive safety culture on-board all vessels under charge
•Provide support to the emergency team for any emergencies aboard vessels under charge.
•Ensures a safe & compliant working environment is provided to all off-shore employees by demonstrating a complete and accurate understanding of the health & safety policies and practices of the organisation
•Responsible for corrective action being implemented to remedy safety hazards or risks and restore a safe working environment on board vessels. Escalate to Manager in the event of the hazards/risks exceeding authority limits provided in the role
•Owns and responsible for delivery of safety messages/training to off-shore employees during site or vessel visits

People and Leadership Management
•Articulates clear and specific goals for employees on board vessels under charge
•Lead, coach, engage, motivate, mentor employees to develop their strengths and build their capabilities as per their defined roles and personal goals
•Ensure development plans are in place for all offshore team members and it is followed up closely to ensure completion
•Responsible for continuous performance discussions with direct reports to drive learning and self-improvement
•Manage and maintain the talent pool by engaging top performers and taking definitive action on bottom performers


Job Requirments

•Electrical Superintendent to be based in Mumbai or as assigned by the management
•Graduate Electrical/ Electronic Engineer
•Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably in Fleet vessels.
•Experience of having worked on Oil Tankers, Gas tankers and Chemical Tankers.
•Experience with ME engines, IGG automation, Boiler automation required.
•Electronic automation troubleshooting, PLC configuration etc. will be added advantage.
•Additional training or experience with makers will be an added advantage.
