Job Position Summary

The Head role exists in order to ensure the continuous success of the Tankers fleet management business by operationalising growth strategies, performance standards and competency development, adhering to FML India's business strategy and budget    


Roles and Responsibilities

• Operationalise strategy for growth of the Chemical fleet management business in India
•  Accountable for the operationalisation of growth strategy for the Chemical fleet management business in India
•   Develop short-term and mid-term objectives and goals to track and measure achievement of FML India's growth strategy, based on industry trends and projection of customer needs, and drive its implementation through Group Managers
•  Derive appropriate  financial targets to track and measure the success of developed objectives and goals, and report progress to Service Delivery Lead Tankers.

 

Drive adherence to vessel performance standards for Chemical fleet in India
•  Accountable for the adherence to Group vessel performance standards for Chemical fleet in India
•  Drive the scheduling and implementation of regular vessel audits through Group Managers
•  Drive implementation of  corrective action plans or preventive measures for cases of non-compliance to Group vessel performance standard through Group Managers based on insights derived from vessel audit reports.

 

Implement technological and human competencies improvement roadmap within Chemical fleet in India
•  Accountable for the operationalisation of improvement roadmap for Tankers technological and human competencies
• Collaborate with HR and Ancillary Services Lead to develop appropriate crew training and technological upgrades in adherence to technological and human competencies improvement roadmap and drive their implementation through Group Managers
•  Derive appropriate targets to measure success and efficiency of developed training and upgrade to monitor and report achievement levels to Service Delivery Lead, Tankers.

 

Maintain safety and reliability standards onboard Chemical fleet
• Accountable for maintaining high levels of safety and reliability aboard Chemical fleet
• Develop policies and programmes to create a safety-oriented culture onboard Chemical  fleet in adherence to FML safety standards based on high level insights derived from vessel audit reports, providing direction to Group Managers address inadequacies aboard vessels if needed
• Drive the clear and regular communication of safety and reliability standards to all FML crew in India through Group Managers

 

Drive continuous improvement within the department
• Responsible for implementing and driving continuous improvement initiatives through managers and employees within the department
• Collaborate with Service Delivery Lead, Tankers and employees within the department to identify improvements that can be made to policies, processes or technological infrastructure.
• Drive the operationalisation and implementation of improvement initiatives within the department through managers and employees
• Monitor adherence to timeline and budget for continuous improvement projects and technological implementations within the department and report progress to Service Delivery Lead, Tankers India
• Monitor and report improvement in outcomes within the department to Service Delivery Lead, Tankers

 

Oversee day-to-day operations
• Accountable for the adherence of all Chemical fleet vessels to established minimum operating standards
• Oversee the standardisation of onboard technical management across all Chemical fleet vessels in adherence to guidelines developed by Service Delivery Lead, Tankers , providing direction in resolving inefficiencies and promoting best practices when needed.
• Provide support and advice to Group Managers in the event of any crisis/incident and ensures that appropriate assistance is provided for quick resolution

Manage and review costs 
• Responsible for adherence of all Chemical fleet repair and maintenance cost to budget
• Accountable for the review, approval, and projection of repair and maintenance budgets presented by Group Managers, and for the aggregation and presentation of final budget to Head, Crewing Services India
• Assist Service Delivery Lead, Tankers in the identification, escalation and resolution of areas of anomaly in budget reports for the department.

 

Develop human capital
• Develop capabilities of direct reports through formal or informal mentorship and implementation of development plans
• Drive the identification and addressing of gaps in competencies through performance review of direct reports and collaboration with HR
• Review and comment on workforce plan developed by  HR to ensure adequate manpower for critical positions


Job Requirment
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Management degree / Nautical Science / Marine Engineering through a structured program and reputed institute, to have held a senior position within the shipping industry.
•A minimum of 6 months experience as CE. / 02nd Eng. / Master/Ch. Off on Sea going vessels.
•A minimum of 10 Yrs. overall experience last 08 years in shipping fraternity and 03 years with FLEET as Non-Sailing staff
•At least 2 years of hands-on work experience as Master, Chief Engineer or Chief Officer and/or 6 years in a Marine related office environment in a crew personnel role
•Very good knowledge of the vessels’ crew requirements and seafarers’ specifications
•Knowledge of the local market dynamics both for demand-supply situation, and also for demographics of maritime labour-supplying countries
•Strong knowledge of the seafarers’ rights and maritime labour law, including the MLC
•Knowledge of the maritime legal framework e.g. employers’ obligations, recruitment prerequisites, insurance, etc.
