Job Position Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist primarily supports sourcing and category teams by providing cost models, reports, market insights, project delivery coaching, and spend and supplier analysis to facilitate informed decision-making. This role may also involve leading contract negotiations when necessary and managing new and renewal contracts, requiring expertise in contract management. The Specialist will participate in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities, collaborating with the category team to strengthen supplier relationships. Reporting to the GM of Strategic Sourcing, the Specialist will develop their sourcing and project management skills while working closely with Category Leads to enhance their knowledge across various categories and support the implementation of category strategies and plans. Additionally, the Specialist will represent the company in negotiations and contract reviews with suppliers.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
•Support the GM of Strategic Sourcing to enhance the efficiency of the global procurement function.
•Ensure category teams adhere to best market practices and fully utilize the internal capabilities, systems, processes, and tools of the Fleet procurement department.
•Assist category teams with project delivery and contribute to the development of category strategies, supporting managers in executing these plans.
•Manage new and renewal contracts, ensuring compliance and effective contract management.
•Engage in Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) activities to strengthen supplier partnerships and enhance performance.
•Provide detailed reports and statistics on suppliers and categories to assist the GM and the global Procurement Leadership team in making informed decisions.
•Conduct supplier market analysis and organize market intelligence for benchmarking spend comparisons.
•Develop effective bidding, negotiation, and pricing strategies to maximize value while adhering to budgets, policies, ethical standards, and audit requirements.
•Maintain and enhance procurement policies, processes, and guidelines, ensuring compliance across all procurement activities.
•Contribute to the development of a supplier management program with key category suppliers, establishing metrics, performance goals, and improvement initiatives.
•Collaborate with cross-functional category teams to drive cost reductions, improve quality, and enhance delivery performance across key metrics.
•Represent the company in negotiations and contract reviews with both existing and prospective suppliers.
Relationship
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will report to the GM - Strategic Sourcing, and work closely with Strategic Sourcing team members and Category Management colleagues. The role will also collaborate and work closely with stakeholders from the various technical teams and other colleagues in the Procurement Department.
The position also involves representing the Company in front of various suppliers (both approved and potential).
Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree required.
•Over 8 years of work experience, with at least 5 years in procurement, emphasizing negotiations, strategic sourcing, contract management, and supplier relationship management.
•Strong understanding of category management and strategic sourcing processes.
•Self-driven team player skilled in stakeholder management, capable of building rapport at all levels and influencing others without direct authority.
•Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent analytical and presentation skills.
•Adaptable to changing priorities and comfortable challenging the status quo to drive change.
•Commercially minded, focused on delivering cost-effective solutions for the business.
•Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to develop and influence internal and external relationships; proficient in spoken and written English.
•Resourceful, proactive, and proficient in MS Office applications; knowledgeable about supply chain procedures.
•Strong analytical capabilities in procurement requirements, budget management, cost analysis, and cost control.
•Ability to translate technical requirements into streamlined procurement processes.
•Experience in the marine industry or other heavy industries is a plus.
