Job Position Summary
As a part of our IT Operations function, the Systems Administrator is an important role providing 2nd/3rd level support and managing key
infrastructure (on-premise and cloud) across our environment.
Key responsibilities will include being able to oversee the installation and maintenance of operating systems, application software and
infrastructure meeting availability and security standards. There will be a need to provide support and input to infrastructure and security based projects with the capability to manage small projects independently.
This role is a key part of Fleet’s focus to develop leading digital capability to enhance and improve our platforms deployed over 650+
vessels and across our global office base.
Key Roles and Responsibilities - A typical working day will include the following activities:
• Manage Cloud & On-Premises Infrastructure
o Oversee the design, implementation and management of AWS and Azure infrastructure working with Development, Analytics and vendor teams
o Manage and maintain Active Directory across multiple locations, including user accounts, group policies, and permissions.
o Optimize cloud resources for performance, cost-efficiency, and security.
o Ensure high availability and disaster recovery for cloud-based systems.
o Oversee Cisco Meraki network infrastructure, including configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
o Manage and maintain Windows and Linux servers, including patching, updates, and performance tuning.
• System Administration
o Implement and maintain system security measures aligning with the Cybersecurity function
o Monitor system performance and resource utilization
o Perform system backups and disaster recovery planning
o Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
o Conduct security audits and vulnerability assessments
• Driving improvements and changes
o Problem Management: Proactively reviewing common incidents performing root cause analysis and determine solutions to address and land these changes across the team
o Landing projects to deliver improvements to the system landscape – infrastructure and user-facing enhancements
o Vendor Management: Actively participate in monthly service reviews with vendors by sharing key points and areas for improvement. Manage procurement of equipment/licences obtaining best value for money for Fleet
Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications
ESSENTIAL
• 3+ years’ experience in a hands-on IT Systems Administrator role - managing infrastructure across one or more of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Direct experience of managing Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra
• Strong analysis skills – to identify root causes and problems putting in place continuous improvement actions to reduce impact
• Practical experience with IT asset management and automation tools such as Endpoint Central
• Vendor Management – experience of working in close partnership with vendors to deliver solutions in meeting customer and non functional (availability, security, etc) goals
• Experience of handling updates on Meraki/Cisco or other next-gen firewalls and Linux instances
• Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English
DESIRABLED
• Industry certifications in:
o Microsoft MCSE, Microsoft 365,
o AWS (Amazon Web Services)
o ITIL v3 or v4
o CCNA
• Familiar with security standards such as ISO27001/NIST/CIS
• Database Administration – familiar with regular DBA tasks on Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, etc
