Job Position Summary 

As a part of our IT Operations function, the Systems Administrator is an important role providing 2nd/3rd level support and managing key infrastructure across our environment. 

Key responsibilities will include being able to oversee the installation and maintenance of operating systems, application software and infrastructure meeting availability and security standards. There will be a need to provide support and input to infrastructure and security-based projects with the capability to manage small projects independently.

This role is a key part of Fleet’s focus to develop leading digital capability to enhance and improve our platforms deployed over 650+ vessels and across our global office base.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities   

A typical working day will include the following activities:

 

• System Administration & Maintenance
o Take ownership of incidents and service requests requiring 2nd/3rd level support ensuring successful completion within the SLA (Service Level Agreement)
o Maintain security, backup, and disaster recovery plans
o Support audit activities for security and compliance
o Provide support for local and cloud-based systems and infrastructure
o Proactively monitor infrastructure alerts and review actions required

 

• Problem Management
o Reviewing common incidents performing analysis to identify root causes
o Determine solutions to address root causes proactively and land these changes across the team
• Project Management & Design Activities
o Participate in projects for onboarding new solutions or improvements within IT Operations
o Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of systems working with the internal development teams

 

• Teamwork & Sharing Knowledge
o Work with other team members across Digital/IT to share knowledge and experience
o Contribute to broader department goals – such as PARIS 2.0 programme initiatives

 

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications   

ESSENTIAL

• 3+ years’ experience in a hands-on IT Systems Administrator role - managing infrastructure across one or more of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
• Direct experience of managing Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra
• Strong analysis skills – to identify root causes and problems putting in place continuous improvement actions to reduce impact 
• Project Management – Understanding of the project lifecycle and able to own tasks through to delivery as part of projects
• Vendor Management – experience of working in close partnership with vendors to deliver solutions in meeting customer and non-functional (availability, security, etc) goals
• Experience with IT asset management and automation tools such as Endpoint Central
• Experience with Meraki/Cisco or other next-gen firewalls
• Experience in managing Linux instances
• Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English. An active listener

 

DESIRABLE
• Industry certification in: Microsoft MCSE, Microsoft 365, AWS (Amazon Web Services), Security, or ITIL
• Familiar with security standards such as ISO27001/NIST/CIS
• Database Administration – familiar with regular DBA tasks on Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, etc
• Project Management - Experience in running projects from inception to completion following a structured approach
