Senior Manager, Carbon Trading

Caravel Resources is a leading provider of solutions across the industrial dry bulk value chain. Our focus is on the trading of industrial dry bulk raw materials, principally those used in the steel and energy industries – iron ore, coal and coke.
 

Job Position Summary 
Sales and marketing role for the Beijing-based Carbons trading team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities   
•    Developing and implementing key marketing strategies that are aligned with organizational objectives
•    Assisting the General Manager in developing the marketing plan and budget report for Carbons
•    Building relationships with key contacts in the industry 
•    Generating new business by developing new client relationships
•    Liaising with procurement and freight teams to provide a smooth service to clients
•    Liaising between traffic teams and clients to ensure smooth transactions
•    Provide intelligence to the Research team by providing accurate information on buyers/ end users including logistics issues and expansion plans
•    Liaise with vessel agents and other agencies to obtain, update and share information on coal vessels arriving in China
•    Engage in daily / weekly market fundamentals and analytics discussions to help develop nearby and forward trading strategies

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications   

•    Comprehensive understanding of INCO terms, contract terms, transaction flow, and bulk freight to be able to facilitate a smooth transaction
•    At least five years’ experience in thermal coal industry primarily in a marketing role
•    Passion for sales and marketing
•    Good technical understanding of the coal and coal-related products and markets
•    Knowledge of Indonesian and Australian coals
•    Understanding of the power and coal industry in China
•    Logical thinker with strong commercial acumen
