Job Position Summary

Primary function of this job is to maintain proper accounting records for a portfolio of vessels and manage the relationship with the Ship Owner regarding vessel accounting matters.


Key Roles and Responsibilities   

•    Wholly responsible for day-to-day accounting for portfolio of vessels which includes various activities like raising the fund requests, checking vendor invoices from accounting aspect, review portage bill and portage bill back received from the vessel, prepare month-end adjustment entries, etc.
•    To prepare monthly vessel financial reports, cash flow statements, budget variance reports, etc. and submit to the Technical departments within given timeframe.
•    To submit the finalized vessel financial reports to the Ship owners on time, responding to their Ship owners’ queries, ensure all reporting requirements are thoroughly met, etc.
•    Assist the reporting manager in regular monthly MIS reporting activities like Report to MD, Budget Variance Report, etc. from time to time.
•    Any other ad-hoc reporting work assigned by the reporting manager.


Relationship (mostly Internal and or External) and Nature of Communication

 All internal departments like Technical, Manning, Quality Safety, Purchasing, etc. on vessel accounting matters

Ship Owners on various matters like reporting, clarification on queries, raising the fund requests and settlement of accounts on periodical basis.


Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications

•    University graduate in accounting, finance or related fields.
•    3+ years of experience in core accounting and preparation of financial reports.
•    Working knowledge of any ERP systems like Oracle, SAP, etc. is preferred.
•    Experience in implementing digital solutions like accounting automations, Invoicing workflows, PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
•    Experience with Ship Management / Shipping Industry is an added advantage.
•    Experience user of Microsoft Suite like Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
