Job Position Summary

A fantastic opportunity has emerged for a Head of Analytics to captain our analytics function and steer the strategic implementation of cutting-edge analytical capabilities across our global fleet operations.
You will navigate the transformation of raw maritime data into actionable intelligence that drives critical operational decisions through NOVA, our analytics platform part of the PARIS ecosystem. Leading a skilled crew of data scientists, data engineers, and analytics specialists, you'll harness the power of AI and machine learning to unlock predictive and prescriptive insights that keep our 600+ ships and 25,000+ seafarers operating at peak efficiency.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
As the Head of Analytics, your typical day might include:
Chart the Course : Strategic leadership of the Analytics function
- Navigate the development and execution of Fleet's analytics strategy, ensuring foundational data infrastructure and governance are robust and fully operational before advancing to sophisticated AI solutions
- Identify and champion data-driven initiatives that deliver measurable business value, building from solid data foundations through to cutting-edge Generative AI applications
- Design and lead the analytics roadmap and its implementation by prioritising data quality, accessibility and visualisation capabilities as stepping stones to advanced predictive analytics
- Mentor and develop your analytics crew—data scientists, engineers, and analysts—fostering a culture where technical excellence meets practical maritime business understanding
Navigate Stakeholder Waters : Engagement & Influence
- Proactively engage with senior stakeholders to identify operational challenges where analytics can chart new efficiencies and cost savings
- Translate complex data insights into clear business narratives, presenting compelling cases to C-level executives
- Form cross-functional partnerships, ensuring analytics solutions integrate through our PARIS ecosystem to provide a seamless user experience for our colleagues across Fleet
- Establish strategic alliances with maritime technology partners and academic institutions to keep Fleet at the forefront of industry analytics innovation
All Hands on Deck : Technical Leadership & Delivery
- Steer the adoption of analytics best practices, ensuring robust data pipelines and quality frameworks underpin all advanced analytics initiatives
- Architect scalable solutions that integrate smoothly within NOVA (part of our PARIS ecosystem), building from reliable reporting through to predictive maintenance and operational optimisation
- Balance hands-on technical guidance with strategic oversight, ensuring your team delivers production-ready solutions that maritime professionals can trust and use effectively
- Oversee the development of reusable analytics frameworks and standardised approaches that accelerate delivery while maintaining quality across our Analytics portfolio

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential
- 7+ years of progressive analytics leadership experience, with 3+ years leading Analytics functions covering both Data Science and Data Engineering disciplines
- Proven track record of building and scaling analytics teams from foundational data infrastructure through to advanced AI implementations with demonstrable business impact
- Deep technical foundation across the analytics spectrum:
- Data Engineering - hands-on experience with data pipelines, ETL processes, and data architecture design (covering EMR, Spark, Hive, Presto)
- Data Science Proficiency - practical experience in machine learning, predictive modelling and advanced analytics techniques (e.g. Python, R)
- Technology Stack Leadership - strategic knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Google Cloud), Big Data technologies and modern analytics tools
- Data Visualisation Tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI)
- Strategic leadership capabilities with experience managing cross-functional analytics teams, setting technical direction, and translating business requirements into analytics solutions
- Executive communication skills - ability to present complex analytical insights to C-level stakeholders and influence strategic decision-making
- Bachelors Degree in Data Science related fields such as Maths, Statistics or similar
Desirable
- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or relative quantitative discipline
- Industry transformation experience - track record of leading analytics initiatives in traditional industries undergoing digital transformation
- Technical certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Google or Azure) or advanced analytics methodologies
- Maritime, logistics, or transportation industry knowledge and understanding of operational complexities
- Generative AI and emerging technologies - practical experience implementing innovative AI solutions in production environments
