Junior Analyst - Finance & Operations
The Caravel Group is a prominent, family-led diversified conglomerate headquartered in Hong Kong. Founded in 2013, the Group has established itself as a significant player in the global maritime, commodities, and investment sectors. The Caravel Group operates through three primary verticals:
Caravel Maritime: This is a major pillar of the group. It includes Fleet Management Limited, the world’s second-largest third-party ship manager, overseeing a fleet of over 600 vessels, with over 27,000 seafarers.
Caravel Resources: This division is engaged in the trading and logistics of industrial dry bulk raw materials, primarily iron ore and thermal coal.
Caravel Asset Management: This arm manages the group’s investments, focusing on global public markets (equity and credit) and alternative investments like private equity and hedge funds.
Job Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Analyst to join our family office team. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with 1–2 years of relevant work experience looking to develop deep expertise across fund accounting, operations, and cross-border project management. The role offers broad exposure across the investment lifecycle and direct involvement in strategic India-focused initiatives.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Accounting
The Analyst will take ownership of core accounting functions for the family office fund, including:
- Prepare monthly Net Asset Value (NAV) packs for the family office fund, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery to stakeholders
- Process and manage payments related to capital activities, including capital calls and distributions.
- Handle the settlement of day-to-day fund expenses, ensuring proper filing, approval workflows, and timely payment execution
- Maintain accurate accounting records and support month-end and year-end close processes
- Liaise with external administrators, auditors, and service providers on accounting matters
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements
2. Operations
On the operations side, the Analyst will gain hands-on experience in:
- Trade booking across asset classes, ensuring accurate and timely entry into Enfusion system
- Trade reconciliation between internal records, prime brokers, and custodians, with timely resolution of breaks
- Supporting the operational lifecycle of investments from execution through to settlement
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of operational controls and process documentation
- Coordinating with counterparties and internal stakeholders on trade-related queries
3. India Engagements
A dedicated component of the role focuses on India-related activities, providing exposure to cross-border investment operations:
- Support India tax-related matters, including compliance, filings, and liaising with onshore tax advisors
- Manage and coordinate payment flows related to India-based activities, including regulatory and vendor payments
- Assist in the administration of onshore investments in India, working alongside legal and tax counsel
- Monitor regulatory developments in India relevant to the fund's investment activities
Maintain documentation and records for India-related transactions
Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications
Education / Experience / Technical Skills required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field
- 1–2 years of experience in fund accounting, operations, or a similar financial services role
- CPA or CFA is required for candidates from Big Four or minimum 3 years fund administrator experience
- Exposure to NAV preparation, trade operations, or fund administration is advantageous
- Knowledge of or interest in India financial markets, tax, and regulatory environment is a plus
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Enfusion
