Job Position Summary   

Supervising/handling marine insurance claims and assisting the Head/Manager with projects assigned to

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities   

  • Monitoring/Handling marine insurance claims, primarily H&M, P&I and FD&D claims;
  • Manage claims process, including Evaluation/Reporting/Monitoring/Compiling/Filing for reimbursement/where required escalate coverage issues to higher management/follow-up on recovery/Advice Owners and close out claims;
  • Appointment of lawyers, correspondents, follow-up on mitigation measures;
  • Payment of sick leave wages (as per CBA);
  • Addressing Fleet care crew related queries for on-leave crew insurance.
  • Preparing claims reports and statistics, and provide monthly reports to Owners as required;
  • Negotiate the claim reserves prior to the renewal.
  • Undertaking any other duties as may be requested by the department Head.

 

Relationship:

  • INTERNAL: Proactively liaising with all departments at Fleet Management for matters related to marine insurance and claims handling.
  • EXTERNAL:Under the direction of Head of the department communicating with Owners, Brokers, P&I Clubs, Insurers and Lawyers with respect to marine insurance and claims handling.

 

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Law or Shipping Degree from a recognized Institute or University;
  • Preferred 3-5 years’ experience in marine insurance.
