Job Position Summary
The role exists to ensure a mature, structured, and consistent procurement process, manage and lead vendor volumetric pricing tiers, drive cost optimization projects, manage reporting of value and performance, and drive adherence to procurement strategy and budget.



Implement policies, processes, procurement best-practice techniques, and continuous improvement initiatives
•    Accountable for recommending and implementing policies and processes for all procurement activities 
•    Drive procurement best-practice methods, tools, and training based on established methods such as 7-step sourcing approach, project charters, PESTLE analysis, SWOT analysis, negotiating plans, BATNA plans, SRM and supplier segmentation etc.
•    Lead a specialist team of experts to support the category management teams during large projects, with specialist negotiation assistance and/or project support with topics such as project charters, market reviews, negotiation planning etc.
•    Manage all department process flows that provide structured guidelines on source-to-pay activities
•    Responsible for implementing and driving continuous improvement initiatives throughout the department


Spend analysis and optimization
•    Accountable for proposing, implementing, and tracking annual cost optimization projects (gameplans) across categories 
•    Responsible for creating monthly progress reports across categories and supporting the category management teams via spend analytics and procurement category insights, e.g., tail spend via pareto principles, spend cubes etc.
•    Establish robust benchmarking via team of analysts for internal costs and related external market trends 


Manage supplier discounts and volumetrics

•    Accountable for owning all supplier discounts, reconciling all discounts, and managing cash-flow

•    Prepare monthly reports for management to present status updates and preparing forecasts for future

•    Streamlining and improving the process to reduce time lag in value delivery
•    Recommend process changes to optimize cash-flow in accordance with company requirements
•    Communicate discrepancies and improvement plans to the management team
•    Drive projects and solutions related to dynamic discounting and payables optimization through related techniques


Maintain database of approved suppliers
•    Accountable for the maintenance and upkeep of approved supplier database, and supplier master records
•    Collaborate with the Shared Services Lead to ensure items are procured from the approved list of suppliers, addressing issues of non-compliance if necessary
•    Work with category leads to address opportunities of supplier consolidation, and reduction of tail-spend, and one-time suppliers
•    Work with external organisations to drive supplier consolidation opportunities via industry platforms and solutions


Tools and systems
•    Collaborate with IT department to formulate requirements, and drive the selection of tools and systems that meet the requirements of the procurement function
•    Use external knowledge and experience of procurement platforms and systems to deliver a procurement systems strategy
•    Drive the training of Procurement department in usage of procurement tools, train in the usage of tips and techniques, reporting, and conducting refresher courses if necessary
•    Drive and leverage the adoption of automation and digitization where possible and appropriate, with a view to reducing end-to-end activity cycle-time, and reduce effort, and improve consistency


Manage costs 
•    Support and prepare materials for the presentation of the annual budget for the department
•    Support in the identification, escalation, and resolution of areas of anomaly in budget reports for the department

Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG)
•    Use experience and knowledge of external service providers to help drive internal culture and practices in sustainable supply chains
•    Accountable for training materials and plans on topics of sustainability within the procurement team
•    Create and maintain reporting metrics to demonstrate improvements

Develop talent
•    Develop capabilities of direct reports through formal or informal mentorship and implementation of development plans
•    Drive the identification and addressing of gaps in competencies within direct reports through regular meets and performance reviews
•    Review and comment on workforce plans in conjunction with HR to ensure adequate resourcing for critical positions


•    Maintains relationships with Procurement Director, Category Leads and direct reports to ensure procurement activities are conducted in accordance with relevant policies and best practice
•    Maintains relationships with business leaders to ensure procurement’s remit, and goals are understood, and supported
•    Liaise with industry bodies and external specialists to remain abreast of industry best practices, and to ensure internal adoption 


•    Proven success in senior commercial management/leadership positions in multinational setting for ideally 12 years and more
•    Experienced manager of people for at least 8 years within a procurement context, leading procurement categories
•    Able to demonstrate knowledge of industry recognised procurement techniques and practises, such as 7-step sourcing methodologies, category management, strategic sourcing, SRM, RFI/RFP, negotiation plans and techniques etc.
•    Able to demonstrate experience in leading contract negotiations, with a solid understanding of all legal implications
•    Track record of delivering improvements within procurement operating model, functional value, systems landscape etc.
•    Knowledge of marketplace and solutions for procurement platforms and tools, and professional bodies etc.
•    Experienced project manager with the ability to drive cost optimization projects across various spend categories
•    Ability to coach and drive peer to peer mentoring 
•    Ability to influence without authority 
•    Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Law etc; MBA preferred, CIPS preferred, Maritime experience preferred
