Job Position Summary
Reporting to the General Manager (Procurement), the main responsibility of the Manager is to supervise a team of Executives and Senior executives and provide daily support to the team, supervise service/goods delivery and internal customer satisfaction, to oversee vendor development and statutory compliance.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Strict adherence to Company’s Purchasing Policies and Procedures
- Interacting with all user departments of the organization for their requirements of both supplies and services
- In charge of daily operational purchasing needs such following up on requisitions from User Departments, collate all purchase requisitions and planning for optimal supplies.
- Handling of RFQ’s RFP’s, issuing of Purchase Orders and tracking on timely delivery.
- Attending and resolving supplies, quality, service, invoicing issues, over/under order with vendors
- Maintain internal data base of vendors, purchasing reports and update price list
- Responsible for overall procurement needs, services, stores, and spares, of the assigned pod vessels (including ones assigned to oneself)
- Follow up vendor, approvers, account team for timely payment.
- Document housekeeping as per company requirements
- Assist executives (when required) with coordination of quotations, choosing the approved vendors, processing of quotations and cost comparisons.
- Responsible for the team of executives and the coordination between them
- Assessing the training needs of the assigned executives and reporting to General Manager to ensure all members of the team are trained as required.
- Conducting yearly appraisals of the executives and providing an improvement plan to overcome any shortcomings.
- Handling of contracts with the sellers and the vendors
Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications
- Degree holder of any faculty with minimum 7– 10 years of work experience in the ship management industry in procurement
- Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices, evaluating and liaising with vendors and service providers
- Good understanding of purchasing process, policy and systems, ability to negotiate supply terms and pricing with vendors
