Job Position Summary 

Primary function of this job is to maintain proper accounting records of the assigned sets of corporate books.  The Corporate Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the company’s financial records. This position leads the execution of general ledger and financial reporting activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, closing procedures, reporting and analysis.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities  

 

•    Wholly responsible for day-to-day accounting of the manning company, which includes various activities such as petty cash handling, Cash to Master (CTM) arrangement, preparation of monthly accruals, reversals, and other month end adjustment entries.
•    Prepare journal entries related to monthly closing activities, including accruals, amortizations, and intercompany adjustments.  Maintain schedules, perform account reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts.  Investigate and resolve discrepancies, ensuring accurate financial reporting and ledger hygiene.
•    Support the Corporate Accounting Manager in preparing management reporting packs and variance analyses.  Identify material trends or anomalies in financial data and escalate findings for further review and action.
•    Prepare the monthly DA reports for submission to Hongkong. Ensure that all charges to vessels are correct and with supporting documents.
•    Perform analysis of financial and operational results in collaboration with other departments/stakeholders to better understand the company’s performance and key drivers and provide explanations on variances for month-on-month and prior year performance.
•    Bring a “solution-oriented” mindset – working closely with the reporting manager and other key stakeholders to advise and recommend approaches to meet organizational goals while ensuring compliance.
•    Ensure compliance with IFRS/PFRS on accounting principles, ensuring clean external and BIR audits
•    Any other ad-hoc reporting work assigned by the reporting manager.

 

Relationship (mostly Internal and or External):

 

INTERNAL:
•    All internal departments like FPD, Training, Vessel Accounting, etc. on corporate accounting matters.

 

EXTERNAL:
•    BIR, External Legal, DTI, DMW, etc.

 

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications:

 


•    Degree in Accounting, CPA, Financial audit experience from Big 4 is an advantage
•    4+ years of experience in core accounting and preparation of financial reports, prior experience in Shipping Industry is preferred
•    Solid knowledge of Financial Reports, internal controls, accounting principles, BIR Regulations and Compliance, etc. 
•    Proven experience in issue resolution, root-cause analysis, and KPI/trend analysis
•    Prior experience in Shipping Industry is an advantage, but not required 
•    Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and Proficiency in MS Excel and Reporting Tools
