Job Position Summary:
• Overall, in-charge of handling the company’s medical and health benefits to the seafarers and their families via Marine Benefits, as well as the healthcare insurance of the office staff and their families, life insurance of office staff. Also responsible in handling all P&I related claims and medical cases of seafarers.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

 

MEDICAL & LIFE INSURANCES

 

  • Facilitates the enrollment & endorsement of the members to the providers and assists on various concerns including but not limited to the availing, reimbursement, updating of data and dissemination of information to the seafarers onboard and ashore.
  • Forwards the MBAS IDs of newly joined seafarers to the vessels and assist with the online enrollment of their MBAS accounts.
  • Monitors the status of membership for reactivation and deletion, if any
  • Coordinates directly with the provider & HK Insurance Team for all other matters
  • Submits monthly report to HK Insurance Department for the handling of new enrollment basis the monthly deployment
  • Performs administrative tasks such as encoding and/or documentation of seafarers’ records via the accomplished FML Insurance Form submitted by the Crewing Dept.
  • Handles the HMO & Life Insurance benefits of Fleet staff and their families
  • Prepares and drafts various letters, documents and other substantial files relative to healthcare benefits.

 

P&I CLAIMS

 

  • Responsible for all coordinating activities that are related to the handling, monitoring, processing and managing of P&I related cases.
  • Coordinates directly with the company appointed medical facility and designated physicians in the endorsement and provision of post medical treatments to medically repatriated seafarers.
  • Assists on application, filing and processing of medical-related claims, reimbursements and other entitlement benefits.
  • Picks up repatriated crew from the airport, if needed, and does hospital visits, if necessary.
  • Liaises with the appointed local correspondent for any updates, approval and status of ongoing cases and claims.
  • Submits and monitors billings issued by the CDP to ensure that payments are facilitated, and all other accounting requirements are met.
  • Reports to other Fleet offices for the regular updates of in-house medical cases.
  • Acts as the company representative who attends conferences, procedures, settlement of cases and other matters, if necessary
  • Submits monthly report of medical cases summary to the Management
  • Maintaining detailed records of claims, including correspondence, reports and any other relevant documents
  • Carries out daily updating and documentation of records of ongoing cases
  • Prepares and encode various letters, documents, and other substantial files relative to the handling of cases.

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications:

 

  • Degree holder with minimum 1 – 3 years of relevant work experience in medical crew claims and benefits, preferably from shipping industry.
  • Good interpersonal & stakeholder management skills with ability to communicate at all levels
  • High stress level, being comfortable handling numerous tasks within limited timeframes in a structured manner with eye for the detail
  • Strong-minded with robust personality Competencies Indicate the observable behaviours that demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities that the employee should have at a particular level.
