You're the team member we've been searching for. Your role is crucial in managing our system platforms across both our on-premise and cloud provided solutions ensuring they are robust, secure and scalable.

Key Roles and Responsibilities    

 

Cloud & On-Premise Infrastructure Leadership
•    Strategic Design & Implementation: Lead AWS/Azure infrastructure design and deployment with internal teams and vendors, aligned with business and technical goals
•    Active Directory (AD) Management: Optimise AD across locations—manage users, policies, permissions, and implement MFA and conditional access
•    Cloud Optimisation: Use cloud-native tools and automation to improve performance and reduce costs without compromising security
•    Server Administration: Maintain Windows/Linux servers—patching, updates, tuning, HA/DR readiness for critical systems
•    Network Oversight: Configure and monitor Cisco Meraki networks; collaborate with cybersecurity on network hardening

 

Proactive System Administration
•    Security Leadership: Partner with Cybersecurity to enforce ISO 27001, NIST, CIS standards; conduct audits and vulnerability assessments in line with overall business goals
•    Performance Monitoring: Use Prometheus/Grafana to identify bottlenecks; build dashboards for real-time metrics visibility
•    Backup & Disaster Recovery: Manage backup and disaster recovery strategies for cloud/on-premise; test and validate procedures regularly
•    Automation & Scripting: Build Python/PowerShell scripts to automate tasks; mentor juniors in automation best practices

 

Driving Improvements and Changes
•    Problem Management: Lead root cause analysis, implement fixes, and share insights to prevent recurring issues
•    Project Leadership: Own infrastructure and user-facing projects; collaborate across teams for successful delivery
•    Vendor Management: Participate in service reviews, negotiate contracts, and lead procurement for cost-effective solutions

 

Team Leadership and Mentorship
•    Mentorship: Guide junior staff, promote learning, and support professional growth within the team
•    Collaboration & Communication: Serve as a technical expert, resolve complex issues cross-functionally, and communicate clearly with stakeholders

•    Daily interaction with all levels of organisation including remote workers, global office workers and vessel-board personnel.


EXTERNAL:
•    Vendors of IT equipment and services

 

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications   

 

ESSENTIAL  – You must be able to show …
•    8+ years in IT systems administration, with at least 3 years in a senior roe managing enterprise-level Windows and Linux environments at scale (500+ end points)  
o    Direct experience of managing Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Entra – including PowerShell scripting
o    Cloud administration in an AWS environment (as well as Google Cloud or Azure)
o    Building / Managing of Linux instances (preferably CentOS or RedHat)
•    Strong analysis skills – Proven ability to identify root causes, implement fixes, and lead improvements to boost system reliability and security
•    Vendor Management – Track record of working with vendors to meet SLAs, negotiate contracts, and align solutions with business needs.
•    Hands-on use of tools like Endpoint Central to manage assets and automate tasks efficiently.
•    Skilled in designing Disaster Recovery and High Availability strategies for cloud and on-premise systems.
•    Skilled in automation using scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and tools like Ansible and/or Terraform
•    Excellent communication skills in both written and spoken English

 

DESIRABLE – Would be great if you have these…
•    Experience of handling updates on Meraki/Cisco or other next-gen firewalls and Linux instances
•    Industry certifications in: 
o    Microsoft MCSE, Microsoft 365, 
o    AWS (Amazon Web Services)
o    ITIL v3 or v4
o    Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
•    Familiar with security standards such as ISO27001/NIST/CIS
•    Database Administration – familiar with regular DBA tasks on Oracle, MySQL/MariaDB, etc
•    Use of tools like Prometheus and Grafana to track metrics and optimize performance.
•    Ability to guide junior staff and promote learning and best practices.
