Job Position Summary  

  • The Assistant Technical Superintendent will actively support the technical team to deliver high quality, innovative, sustainable solutions to the customer.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities

 

Technical Management / Operations:

  • Support Technical superintendents in the day-to-day management of assigned vessels and ensure the vessel maintenance standards are maintained in accordance with organisation policies and client requirements
  • Monitor vessel condition, machinery performance, maintenance schedules, and operational reliability through review of reports and PARIS system
  • Review technical reports submitted by vessel crew, identify operational or maintenance concerns and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Plan and coordinate maintenance/repair activities and ensure timely completion of scheduled maintenance, defect rectification, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in the diagnosing equipment failures, performance trends and plan preventive measures.
  • Track vessel defects, repair status, and technical deficiencies, ensuring timely closure and proper documentation for audits and inspections.
  • Liaise with the Manning Department on crew matters as assigned.
  • Coordinate with crew for assigned technical matters and conduct crew briefing remotely prior joining.
  • Review vessel requisitions and liaise with the Procurement Department on sourcing, evaluate quotation and consider the opportunities for replenishment in respect to the trading commitments of the vessels to provide for the most economical and timely supply.
  • Monitor the status of service and delivery orders to ensure operational requirements are met.
  • Act as a covering when Tech Superintendents are on travel, with the guidance from Group Head.

 

Regulatory/Legislative Statutory Compliance

  • Support compliance with International Maritime Organisation (IMO), Flag State and Port State rules and regulations
  • Support preparation for vessel inspections and audits.
  • Follow up on audit findings, observations, and deficiencies to ensure timely implementation and closure of corrective actions.
  • Maintenance of ship certificate and survey status at all times keeping track of renewals and placement on board vessels.

 

Financial Management

  • Track expenditures against approved budgets and reconcile the accounting reports
  • Assist with invoice verification with deadlines

 

Relationship

Internal:

  • Business Support – Purchasing, Finance, QHSE, Human Resources & IT
  • Off-shore employees on vessels

 

External:

  • Vessel Owner or a designated authority
  • Regulatory/Government authorities
  • Vendors

 

Job Experience, Functional Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering
  • Sailing experience preferred (e.g. 2nd/ 3rd / 4th engineer or 2nd/Chief officer)
  • Proficient in Outlook and Microsoft tools
